Doing a body-off restoration on my '67. During the disassembly of the original seats, the seat back lock plastic cover (GM PN 3903587) was broken on one of the seats. As you know this part in no longer available and I could not find anyone reproducing the cover. I have reverse engineered the cover and had a new one printed. Just letting folks know that I have the design files if you need to have one reproduced.

John, That is great! It's a very delicate piece and prone to breakage. You can see some of it in these photos below of a pair of '67 seats I recently worked on. IIRC it just sits in there and held in with no fasteners.

You may want to get in touch with some of the vendors that sell reproduction parts as they might be very interested in your design files.
I'd bet that David Walker at Zip-Products would be one with interest, and maybe the Interior specialists like Al Knoch. You may want to call Elliot Knoch and query if he has interest.

John,
Very cool. For a plastic part that is not judged or is difficult to see, it seems like 3D printing is a great idea. I don't know enough about 3D printing to know if a plastic part so made would pass muster if it's to be judged and easily visible.

Not sure what type of material the covers were made from but they do see wear over time. As shown in the pic below, mine showed significant wear from contact with seat wires in a few places. So, any reproduction would have to be fairly stout.

Hi All,
With today's 3D printing capability, you can have the parts created in various plastics including ABS. These plastics are even more stout that what was available for injection molded parts in the 60's.- Top
