My 66 327/350 hp had a date code of 0240. How does this decode?

Re: 1966 carb date code
I see this is your first post...welcome to NCRS!! The four digits you're showing would reflect a service replacement carburetor. The original stamp would be a single number denoting the year (in your case either a 5 or 6), the next character would be an alpha designating the month, and the third digit would be the week of the month. What date was your car built?Leif

Re: 1966 carb date code
HI Mike:
Per the post by Leif---here is an example from my '66 big-block coupe built in late January '66.
As you can see the code is 613 or 6 = 1966, 1st month 1 = January and 3 = third week.... the car was built the following week.
Welcome to the NCRS --- have fun on the site ---
Regards
Bill

Re: 1966 carb date code
HI Mike:
I am not SURE what the date code actually means. I have a similar four number stamp on my 67 small block 3810 Carb that is a Holley replacement piece. (see the photo) I have heard a ton of different explanations for this number.....I also have many other 3370 units that are replacement pieces that all have different numbers----
I did find this site that attempts to explain Holley four digit date codes ---(Note: the three digit codes are correct----)
If this is correct then your date code -is equal to January 24th (024 = 24th day of the year) of any one of the following years.... 1970/1980/1990/2000 ---I suppose this is possible.....
Accordingly, my replacement carb on my '67 which is 2254 - is equal to August of any of the following years... 1964/1974/1984/1994 --- again this is "possible" --- I just can't say for sure ....
I also assume that you could extend the year codes accordingly ---i.e. the 2254 code could be the 225th day of year 64-74-84-94-04-14 -----
In your case you could have: the 24th day of January in 1970-1980-1990-2000-2010 etc (but clearly NOT 2020!!!! for the obvious reason).
I have no clue if all of this correct but it is the most plausible explanation I have found to date.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Bill
