    Hypothetical question on judging

How would a 2011 Grand Sport Callaway be judged?
Just wondering, since I don't think the 2011s are judged.....yet.

    Re: Hypothetical question on judging

I would think it would judge like any other Callaway. Any non factory item added or original item removed would have appropriate deduction. Don H.

While 2011 Callaway cars are still a long time from judging eligibility, there are other Callaway cars that go well back into the C4 years which are year-eligible. So, the precedent for these cars, whatever it is, has presumably already been set.

Correct, but they were a factory available option. Current Callaways are aftermarket conversions. So, every modification or missing part is a deduction. Big difference.

Sort of like showing up with a Baldwin-Motion or Yenko car; they're cool and worth a lot of money, but not stock.

I would imagine the only "Callaway" cars that could be judged without major deducts would be the C-4 cars that carried the RPO number (which I do not recall) on the SPID. I believe that they (Callaway) were doing conversions on customer's cars at the same time they were doing the factory cars. I guess what I am trying to say is, you could have 2 1988 "Callaways" and they would be judged entirely differently based on what was on the SPID. Additionally, weren't external modifications on the factory RPO Callaways limited to wheels and hood vents? I think Callaway offered additional items (spoilers, scoops, suspension, etc.) on their conversions that should not be present on Chevrolet RPO cars. I could be wrong on that. Chip.

The GM Callaway Option Code was B2K.

Thanks Larry. Do you recall what all was included in the B2K package?

Your best bet is to Google "GM Callaway B2K Corvette" or something similar to get a definitive list of all the changes. They were both mechanical and cosmetic. I know you got twin turbo's and a lot of additional horsepower.

I can remember buying a new 1987 Corvette Z51 Option (Off Road/Racing) and then getting a letter in the mail from Callaway offering to perform a Callaway Conversion to my brand new car for around another $30,000 or so.

                I declined.

The B2K Option was offered by GM a year or two later. It lasted for only a few years.

                      Re: Hypothetical question on judging

Gm along with Callaway produced 25 special addition Callaway B2K cars in 2012 . Because theses were available through the select Callaway Gm dealers they could in theory be judged by the NCRS when the 2012 model years are judged
The original Callaway B2K twin turbos from 1987 to 1991 are judged by the NCRS I own a 1989 that achieved the McLellan Mark of Excellence award. Right now there are 2 other B2K's in the system being judged.
The B2K package involved the car being shipped to Callaway in Old Lyme Ct and having the motor removed and a special vin stamped Callaway motor installed
There were many other modifications in the standard B2K package, exhaust ,cooling, air intake and filter, computer prom and other changes
The engine mods produced either 382 or 405 Hp depending on the year of production

I saw Chris Chesno at Bloomington Gold. He's a judge now. He could answer all the Callaway concerns .
