I'm curious. I've searched the archives but I can't find any information on some numbers located on the bottom of the non power master cylinder. I know the part number and the date codes but what do the R and single numbers after it, like 3, 5 and 6 for? At least those are the ones I've seen on some.

1965-66 standard brake master cylinders were manufactured by Bendix, unlike most Corvette master cylinders which were manufactured by Delco Moraine. I'm not familiar with the casting marking process used by Bendix. However, if it's similar to the GM foundry marking system, the "R" probably refers to a specific foundry and the numerals to the particular foundry pattern that was used to make the mold for any particular casting. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
