Need help interpret a build sheet

Im trying to find some more information about a Corvette that me and my brother has been offered to buy. According to build sheet is was a zone 00 dealer 502 car. It's in bad shape but is supposedly an original 1967 427(435HP)

    19467 CORVETTE CONVERT
    Paint 02974AA RALLY RED

And the build sheet says it was shipped to as follows:
    CC CHEV ENG CENTER
    GEN MOTORS PROVING GRDS

Does anyone have any idea about what "zone 00 dealer 502 car" and "GEN MOTORS PROVING GRDS" means?

Erik, I think that the car was a test mule for GM.

Another possibility is it was a GM company vehicle ordered by an engineering exec to drive as their product evaluation program (PEP) car. These cars were called "drive and buys" because they could be purchased at an additional discount after they were used in company service.

Given the odds of finding a original 1967 427(435HP) I'm a fair bit skeptical. I do have some pics, but the tank sticker seem too good looking... However, If it is the "real deal" it seems that the best thing is to keep it "close at heart", especially since it will take me a couple of weeks to go and check it out. Actually, looking at the pics now I realize that everything I disclosed is printed on the tank sticker, not the build sheet.

I was mostly interested in if the "
GEN MOTORS PROVING GRDS" meant what I thought it was, and it seems that is the case.

So, I got pictures of the engine pad. It seems that the engine was stamped 7 days prior to the Date Received on the tank sticker. Seems very odd, unless that can be explained by it being a test mule or some other "special" car?

              Erik,

Which stamp are you referring to, the engine assy or the VIN derivative? How about a picture? Either way, I don't see why seven days prior to ship date is a problem.

I'm not allowed to post pictures for various reasons. As soon as I got permission I will.

It's the engine assy I'm referring to. It says T0901JA as far as I can tell. It's pretty rusty but seems legit with the correct longitudinal grinding marks.

The "Date Received" on the tank sticker is 09-08-66 and The build date is 9/20/1966 according to the EXPEDITED HANDLING ORDER service here at NCRS.

I thought that the "Date Received" on the tank sticker was the date that the order to build the car came in. Or is it the day it was assembled?

                  Erik -

The "Date Received" on the tank sticker is the date the Dealer Order was accepted for production at the plant, which allows 4-6 weeks for parts procurement before the date the car was actually built.

                    Erik,

John has explained the Date Received. It has nothing to do with the engine assembly date stamped by the Tonawanda engine plant. As long as the engine assy date precedes the car's assy date (by up to six months), everything is cool.
