1970 carpet color blue 411 anybody have original photos ?

Does anybody have a good photo of 1970 411 blue interior carpet? please post This seems to be a long time problem, Knoch sells a carpet that seems way too light. The carpet in my car was pretty dark but I am not 100% sure it is the original carpet.
Who sells the right carpet ?
    Thanks, Bob #967

Bob, I think the bright blue replacement carpet colors are really not close with any of the providers, I have a friend that had the original carpets in his 68 (bright blue) and the AK color was not the same, as was the heel pads were totally different,If I had a choice I would go with either corvette America or ACC interiors( which are the same) Its just who has the best price. another thing you can do is ask for a sample from each.

      Pictures will not help you:

Both are the same place in the car (behind the seat to reduce the effects of fading), taken with the same camera on the same day. Only thing is the camera is auto focus (you can see how well that works in photo #2) and auto light adjustment.

The problem you are encountering (different shades) is because the 411 interior for 1968 to 1970 is one shade and 412 for 1971, 1972, and beyond, is a different (darker) shade. Most, maybe all, of the aftermarket suppliers order one color for all of them.

Many sleeps ago I ordered 1970 carpet from ACC and it matched very well, but that was then and this is now. More recently, about 3 years ago, I ordered bright blue leather hides from Al Knoch (not for use on the 1970) and it was a good match for the 411 vinyl. Ed J's suggestion to ask for samples is a good one. If you wish you can send all the samples you accumulate to me and I will photograph them against my original carpet for your decision making. Send me an email and we will work out the details.

Terry- THANK YOU so much, I have spent many hours chasing this one down. It looks like the carpet that was in my car IS original, it match's the top photo very close. I will just match up with my original carpet piece, Most of AK interiors are great, but the medium 411 blue he sells for 68 to 70 is not even close a light blue almost a powder blue.

My 70 WILL be ready this summer, mulsanne blue/ blue vinyl 350 hp 4 sp convertible bought from original owner

After you get your color match you will have to deal with the direction of the weave (called "corn rows") in the carpet. The top picture shows the direction of the weave on the drivers side. I am pretty sure the passenger side is the same. I don't recall the direction of the rows over the bulkhead or in the rear compartment, but I know those who do know are watching this thread and they will chime in. A previous thread gave directions on how to get the carpet cut the right way.

After that there is the issue of the heal pad(s). The only solution there is to reuse your original.

I have a 71 here, 24k mile car, tinkering with. All the carpet in the car, corn rows, run North / South. EXCEPT the front carpet, it runs east / west.
I think most carpet manufacturers will make it that way for you, but they charge more. I had MidAmerica do a couple sets for me. Very cordial, I stood there and watched them do it. Had a couple sets done at the same time, put them in the back of the truck and came home. No box folds to contend with.

The carpet today does not have the right colored backing, but at least it will look right in the car.
