1967 Front Fender Bonding Strips - Molded In Part Numbers

This Late March built St Louis body has a part number on the driver's side Front Fender bonding strip about half way between wheel lip center and the rear corner. The Passenger side does not. Both appear unscathed over time, as does the entire front of this car. never evidence of a nose replacement or any repairs that I have seen. I see no evidence of "ROCKWELL" labels, just the debossed numbers about 3/4" high or so.

I know of other cars that have part numbers debossed on bonding strips and various panels like inner skirts(wheel side), etc.

Opinions please. Has anyone seen these numbers on original bonding strips?

Rich, I myself have seen this before, I am wondering if the part numbers were just on the same side and the part numbers are just facing inboard on one side. I have to tell you. you have done quite a job on the 67 your love of these cars really shows, I wish I would have followed the production you have put on before I did my 63 and I would have done many things different. I did my first full resto. on my 63 inc. paint, interior, and conv. top and all mechanicals. I am not sure I will ever do another but who knows. Thanks Ed

      Rich,

3849213 is listed under section 8.141 of the GM parts book along with 3849214 for the right side. From the pictures you have shown there is no evidence of repair and the bonding material matches what was done at the factory. And yes, there is a part number on all fiberglass parts contracted by GM, if you can find it!
If you are wondering about originality take a shot of Jack Daniels and chill! Your worries are over. Looking forward to seeing your 67 later this month.

Ed, JR, (and even Mr. Daniels).....Thanks for your confirmations.

Ed, There's always a first time. Mine was like yours but we always learn when we restore these cars. Just takes time. I always learn, every day thanks to the folks here.

JR, I love your words. They always make me chuckle and feel better. I always read your words in every posting. Thanks for that detailed info.

In my photo of the Pass side rearward b/strip section, I can almost see some numbers under the goop but I don't want to disturb it. Funny how the photo shows something but I can't see it by eye. I'll try to get some more shots at angles to see if it highlights anything.

        Thanks!
        Rich

I never saw any other numbers on the right side with a very close inspection.

Today I was working in the rear facia and valence area. I found part numbers on the horizontal bonding strip above the backup lamps and on both vertical bonding strips. Nothing on the upper side horizontals.
