72 insulators ?????

I am in the process of assembling my Tach were as I have come across 3 what look like mounting insulators. These things are about 1" long and +/- 1/8" in dia. They appear to be made of a hard dark material (maybe just aged).
Does anyone have a clue what these things are and what they are used for?

OK -- This tells me that I should be able to make up some out of sticky back black foam insulation material !!! Yes?

My experience is that they typically fall out when you separate the speedometer from lens.

Hi Rey,
If I were in need of the 'insulators' I'd look for some of the rubber spline that is used when replacing screening.
If I could find one that I thought would work I'd buy a roll (25' ?), use 4" of it, and move the roll around in my basement until it was so stiff that I'd throw it out 10 years from now.

Hi Alan,
Sage advice I will give it a try. I have a roll that has not reached the 10 year point yet, still pliable. I plan to cut some 1" pieces and Glue (?) them in place with a little bit of clear (maybe black)silicon rubber.
