PF1218CL Professional Classic Design Engine Oil Filter

While shopping AC oil filters, I noticed a new-to-me model, the PF1218CL Professional Classic Design Engine Oil Filter. Isn't that a cool name for an oil filter?

Any comments about how it compares to the garden variety PF1218 and PF35L?

Below are excerpts from the Amazon listings. Maybe the CL has a different shell and a steel core? But it looks like it may have cellulose media, while I understand the PF35L has "synthetic" media (although its description doesn't mention that).

PF1218CL Professional Classic Design Engine Oil Filter:
    • Contains a shell that is manufactured to the original design length of classic GM cars
    • Designed with a steel core construction and a traditional mounting plate for enhanced durability
    • Offers outstanding filter capacity, enhanced efficiency, consistent flow management, and high durability for optimal filter performance
    • Equipped with 98% single-pass filtering efficiency at 25-30 microns for excellent filtering capabilities
    • Has a cellulose media

    PF1218:
    • Is 20-25% smaller in size, yet has more filtration media for greater capacity

    • Has 10 times more open area in the core for improved flow

    • Designed to remove adhesives in manufacturing, and related volatile emissions, for a safer oil filter
    • Has high efficiency media with a steel shell construction that are both recyclable for a green advantage

[My note: Not clear- 20-25% smaller than what? 10 times more open area than what?]

    PF35L:
    • Equipped with 98% multi-pass filtering efficiency at 25-30 microns for outstanding filtering capabilities
    • Designed to withstand five times greater force than most engine operating pressures

[My note: 1218 has 98% single-pass filtering vs. PF35's 98% multi-pass filtering. Does this mean oil needs to pass through the PF35 multiple times to achieve this level of filtering?]

The PF1218CL and the PF1218 are conventional media (cellulose) filters. The PF35L is a synthetic media filter.

I have been using the AC Delco PF35L in my 68,70, and 85 Corvettes for years now and like it. It is built very good and the container box says Made in the U.S.A.
