Establishing datum line to check frame alignment

    Hello All,

I picked up a NOS 69-74 frame that I would like to measure against the frame schematics available online . My garage floor is sloped. What types of tools are available to measure and set up a datum on the floor, besides the obvious tape measure and 4 foot level? Are there laser measuring/level devices available without breaking the bank? Thanks and Happy New Year

You can cross check it demensionally but I am not aware of any way to check height outside of a qualified frame repair shop.

Others may have some ideas though.

Check some old body shops in your area, they may have a set of old frame gauges around. Many shops had them but no one knew how to use them. They are not complicated. I can give you the data sheet from my old frame books if you would like. They may let you borrow them if they can find them.
