Correct water pump pulley for '69 with base 350 CID/300 HP motor?

    Hi all,

Like the subject states, I am trying to figure out which water pump pulley is correct for my '69 with the base 350 CID/300 HP motor. The car does NOT have power steering or AC.

The pulley on the car right now is a 2-groove one with part number "3890419 CT" stamped on it. I thought it was original, but I am adding the A.I.R. system back to the car, and I am hearing that I need a 3-groove pulley to do so. I checked out the assembly manual, but it is still unclear to me which pulley I need.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Paul,
A base engine , no PS or A/C shows part #3890419 (which you have) and #3883235 for the A.I.R. belt for a total of 3 grooves. This is illustrated on page A4, UPC 6, page 196 in my copy of the AIM. Hope this helps.

As others have mentioned, the original pulleys were a 2 groove GM #3890419 onto which was "sandwiched" a 1 groove GM #3883235 which was the AIR pump driver pulley.

The 3890419 was discontinued from SERVICE more than 40 years ago and replaced by the GM #3995643, The latter is a virtually identical pulley, except for part number (which can't be seen when the 3883235 is installed in front of it). Unfortunately, it's been discontinued without supersession.
