I'm rebuilding my 58 front suspension and need to know how many dust seals go on the lower outer shaft and where do they go. My kit lower spindle had 2 seals in the bag. Pictures would be a big help.

Re: 58 lower spindle dust seals
Brandon,
Tom Parsons did a very concise write up on a 1960 front end overhaul. I've done two myself following his methods and have not had any issues. He addresses the seal installation you are asking about.
Article can be found in many places in the interweb. Here is one:
C1 & C2 Corvettes - Tom Parsons (DZAUTO)-Complete rebuild of front cross member and suspension (PDF ver) - Greetings folks. With Tom's permission and assistance, I have prepared a PDF version (link below) of his earlier forum post on rebuilding the front cross member and suspension for 53-62 Corvettes and other early...

Thanks Thomas, I found the information i needed. I had looked at Tom's front suspension rebuild before but i guess i over looked installing the seals.- Top

Re: 58 lower spindle dust seals
Bob, I bought and installed a suspension kit from one of the major corvette vendors and for the most part the kit was good. Unfortunately it came with a few things that I did not replace such as front coil springs but when I did the math it was better to get the big kit than piece it together.
i followed Tom's directions too and had no problems.
Was there something in particular you were wondering about?

Re: 58 lower spindle dust seals
I did find that the repop upper control arm outer shafts did not provide as much adjustment as the originals so I reused the originals there as well.

Re: 58 lower spindle dust seals
Bob, I got the complete rebuild kit including coil springs from corvette central. My original bushing was good so i used them. The ones with the kit did not have the notches on the sides, they had a smooth finish that I didn't like. The kit also had some dust covers that came with it that was not used originally. No instructions on where the dust seals went so I had to do a lot of research to figure out where they had to be placed. Besides that everything work out good.- Top

Re: 58 lower spindle dust seals
Bob, I also bought the complete front end kit from CC. The only issues that I ran cross were, the same as Brandon on the cross shafts for the lower inner mount and a few issues with the 3rd arm parts. The dust shield was too thin and had to double it up and I wasn't comfortable with the bearing so I sourced a better one. Eric- Top
