Just received a email from NCRS about my renewal dues, said unable to process membership dues please do again. I though this was odd so check web site showed paid till 2017. Next I call my card company they said amount went through fine. Don't know if anyone else is or will get similar emails.

Re: Renewal Scam
Same thing here. I have two charges on my credit card and do not see anyplace on the website to place a question. I will contact my credit card company and dispute the second charge and see what happens. Is there place on the website to submit such questions or issues and did miss it? Maybe I just messed up on my renewal efforts?- Top

Re: Renewal Scam
Okay guys here's what happened.
Many NCRS members signed up for automatic dues renewal payment when they renewed their dues in 2014.
in 2015 when these members received an email advising them that their dues would be automatically paid using the payment method that used in 2014.
A lot those members went ahead and paid their dues again. Meaning their dues were paid twice for their 2015 membership renewal and credited to the members' membership. Now those members have an expiration date of 2017.
Some of those members signed up for automatic membership dues renewal payment again when they paid their 2015 dues, which means they created two automatic dues payment subscriptions. We've been working to identify and cancel those members with duplicate automatic renewal membership subscriptions. And have since implemented a software change where as a member can only have 1 automatic dues renewal subscription in effect.
A payment failed email notice, means a dues payment was attempted to be processed. A failure could be caused by member's method of payment changed such as a new credit card number, new expiration date etc.
To check your NCRS membership subscription:
1) Login to the NCRS Store Store with your NCRS login Username and Password
2) Go to My account at the bottom of the Store main page or click on this link My Subscriptions
3) Click on Membership Subscriptions to update your credit card information and/or cancel your automatic dues renewal subscriptions.
When there are questions like this, it's best to initiate a Help Desk ticket www.ncrs.org/helpdesk/ with your request.
The automatic membership dues renewal payment feature was requested by many members and that was why it was implemented in 2014 as a member benefit.

Re: Renewal Scam
I appreciate the explanation but don't buy it. I NEVER use auto-renewal for anything, yet was auto-renewed anyway. My guess is unless you opt out, you are auto-renewed. As mentioned it prevents you from thinking about it, especially when you don't know when it's happening. Best to check your account settings to see.- Top

Re: Renewal Scam
This is the way the automatic dues payment works - box is unchecked by default - Member has to manually check the box to accept
