Alternator bracket bolt - Painted or Not?

The bolts on my 66 water pump were a mixture of hardware store bolts, so I ordered a new set from Long Island. I'm finishing the painting of my engines are other parts/brackets. The LIC bolt package had a note that says the bolt that hold the two alternator brackets at the water pump should be unpainted. I don't find any mention of this in either the 66 or 67 TIM&JGs.

    Is this correct?

    Thanks,

    Don

    Don,

The alternator brackets were installed in prep at St. Louis and not at Flint so LIC is correct as they were not on the engine when it was painted. When the brackets were installed the bolts were changed as the length was not correct when the thickness of the brackets were considered.

Thanks, now it makes sense. I assumed there was a bolt there when the pump was installed and painted. So, makes sense that a longer bolt was needed one the thickness of the two brackets were added.

          Leif,

They kept them and sent them to me later. Now they are for sale with a signed copy of original toilet paper from the John in St. Louis. Zora signed it too!
