New Repro Schweitzer fan clutch and fan

Has anyone seen the new repro Schweitzer fan clutch and reproduction five blade fan? Just wondering how they have done in judging. Both are for a big block.

There was an ad in the Driveline for them. The manufacturer of them says to check with your Corvette parts supplier.

America's Finest was going to reproduce them. They sent me two and asked my opinion. If they are the same ones, they are very well done. For judging, if anyone cares, there will be a points deduct for lack of patent numbers.

Judges better have a sharp eye, other than the obvious 'new appearance' should judge well. Nice item.

Judges better have a flashlight and mechanic's mirror.

Re: New Repro Schweitzer fan clutch and fan

I found reproduction Schwitzer fan clutches for about $170 from the Corvette parts houses. Besides price, what's the difference between this and an original, restored unit? The date code?

Any experiences with quality from a functional perspective?

To my knowledge, Kirkconnell can, not only rebuild but, re-date an original unit.

I have the same question, how do they compare to the original in terms of functionality? Are there any specs indicating engagement temperature, percent of shaft speed when engaged and other important things for cars that are driven?

Mark you are correct about that, but some may be dated, some are not.

You're right, Gary...I don't disagree and I would not deduct for no date but, the overwhelming majority were dated.

look at page 59 of your newest Driveline. Go to Long Island Corvette and look at their web site for the fan clutch and fan

Since the Repro is missing the patent numbers and the clutch is worth 5 points in judging if everything else is correct I would say 1 point for not having the patent numbers?
