Auxiilary fan belt/pulley assembly on a 62 FI car

Noland's book shows a drawing of the auxiliary belt and idler pulley setup for 62 only 340 (carb) and 360hp (FI) cars. And he also mentions that a survey did not produce any documented cars with it. I just recently did a rebuild of what appeared to be a real FI unit (7360) on a 62 which had what appeared to be a real and correct secondary belt and pulley setup (NO, I don't have the VIN, but it was about a Dec built car). Are there known 62's with the auxiliary belt setup?

Tom, there are some 62's running around with those on them because the reproduction houses list them. Are there any original 62's with them? I've been looking for 41 years, have examined late original-owner high hp cars, and have NEVER found an original with an idler pulley that was factory installed. Of course, someone else will chime in and say the 62 they bought last week has one, and the owner who bought it in 2012 said it was original. In the 62 AIM by the way, that page was drawn 3/7/62, so late cars are the only ones that potentially would have had it.

      Mike,
      THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
That Is kind of what I thought, BUUUUUUUUUUUT, I didn't know for sure. I DID NOT question the owner, I just observed the setup and stored it to memory. Even if it is not or was not a real factory installation, I'd sure like to have it on the 56. Of course, I'd like to have air cond on the 56 also, but that involves cutting holes in the original fiberglass panels and I just haven't been able to bring myself to do that--------------YET. Of course, I did cut the irregular shaped hole in the radiator support panel for the 57 Airbox---------------and I had a major struggle with doing that.

For anyone interested further regarding this dual fan belt installation, read page 7 Volume #3 Winter 1977. Tech Session with Sam Folz. Also Corvette News volume 5 number 3. As item is described along with all appropriate part #s, it could be special ordered from Chevrolet Dealers. It does appear it was not an option that could be ordered with a new Corvette.
