    1965 power brake conversion

Is there any part or parts needed to convert to power brakes exactly as installed at the factory that can't be installed with the body on...brackets...brake blocks, a particular line, etc? (I'm not referring to the originality of the parts themselves)

    Thanks...

Rod, Physically the only issue would be the length of the rear brake line. It would not follow it's original path as it would be short. An angular path towards the master cylinder should do it. But it would not pass flight judging if that were ever in the plan. A lot will depend if you are using reproduction parts vs replacement after market. There is a booster mounting you need to add and change lower mounting of booster to studs going the opposite direction. My 65 is a drum brake car so there was no issue.

I wouldn't mind making the necessary changes, but only if it would end up identical to the factory installation, except of course the parts(lines, etc.) would not be original. I do have an original 1965 power brake master cylinder which I think is the hardest to find part necessary.

        Rob,
You will not be "but only if it would end up identical to the factory installation" unless you do your homework and have all the T's Crossed and I's dotted. NCRS frowns on added options. I will not disclose those details. But if you want power brakes just for driving pleasure and not judging then simulation of identical factory installation should not be of major concern.

Isn't there a brace of some sort under the dash to compensate for the added pressure?

            Marty -

Nope, no added under-dash brace on power brake cars; the same firewall reinforcement plate was used on all cars, manual or power.
