My passenger side brake light is not working. I used a test light to check the two prongs inside the socket, the tail light prong has current but no current from the brake light prong. What should I check to identify the problem? Thanks

John,
It's probably going to be the turn signal switch if the grounds are good and no wires broke.- Top

If the turn signal works on that side, then you have a turn signal switch problem in the steering column.....- Top

Re: 66 Brake Lights-Passenger Side Not Working
Verify the front turn lamps are good. If both are good, you'll need to trouble shoot the signal switch then - BEFORE you replace it.

Re: 66 Brake Lights-Passenger Side Not Working
The turn signal switch has a circuit in it that gives priority to the turn signal "command" over the brake light "command" for the rear lights. This allows the turn signal to flash when the brakes are also applied. If this circuitry were not in the switch the brake signal would overcome the flashing circuitry and the rear lights would not flash when requested. I believe you have a switch problem and a new one would solve the issue as you have described it. Jerry Fucillo has posted a diagram of the switch on this forum in the past. Query his name and you'll find the diagram.- Top

Re: 66 Brake Lights-Passenger Side Not Working
Thanks Steve. If indeed I new to purchase a new turn signal switch, do all the Corvette Vendors sell the same type/make of switch, or are there different quality switches on the market?- Top

I believe SHEE-MAR makes all the switches for the vendors. They are available on line.
