Who makes an easy diaphragm clutch for a stock 63 car 327/300

The clutch in my stock 63 car 327/300 is a bear to push down. And having a weak ankle does not help. The previous owner said he installed a diaphragm clutch but does not remember make. Does anyone know a nice easy clutch. I would hate to go to the trouble of replacing and then ending up with a hard one.

All 1963 Corvettes originally were equipped with a diaphragm clutch. This was a 10.4" clutch and was mated to a 12-3/4", 153 tooth flywheel.

I have no idea what is in there now. However, I recommend going with a stock-type clutch. Discontinued from GM many years ago, a stock-type clutch can be obtained as manufactured by LUK which is an OEM manufacturer for clutches. The clutch kit (pressure plate, disc, and release bearing) for your application is their part number 04-084.

If a stock-type clutch has too heavy of pressure for you, then you might try something like a Centerforce. It might have a little less pedal effort but I don't think it's going to be hugely different.

      Chester,

Have you checked the clutch pedal to ensure the two position bracket is not assembled in the "fast" configuration? That makes a noticeable difference in the effort required. Ran mine that way for quite a few years until my leg got old and tired. Now in the "slow" setting and easier pedal effort is a better matched to my slow shifting arm.

X2 BUT, have it balanced. The last Luk set-up I bought was extremely out of balance.
