65 Wiper Motor High Speed Problem

I am relatively new NCRS member and this is my first post on this technical board. I checked archives and could not find a similar thread.

Having a problem with the high speed on my wiper motor. Wiper motor was just recently rebuilt. Washer pump and low speed works. I checked all of the grounds and the wiper switch....everything is good.

When I turn switch to high speed, I can hear the "high speed" motor click in and when I time the wiper speed at the high speed setting, the wipers are slightly faster. For example at low speed get about 10 "wipes" in 20 seconds, at high speed get about 14 wipes in 20 seconds. But speed difference not visible to "eye" and based upon shop manual high speed motor rpm (65 rpm) is about twice the speed of low speed rpm (34).

I removed the glove box and checked all of the connections (rods etc) everything looks good, no blockages etc. and I also greased all joints. Still having same problem.

Could there be something in the wiper motor itself that is "clogging" the motor from actually achieving double rpm at high speed setting?

If so, can I remove the wiper motor cover from inside the engine compartment, without removing the entire wiper motor?

    Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the thread linked below. I would suggest testing it on the car. Make sure you have all good grounds first. My not sound logical, but make sure the wiper motor has a good ground (add a test jumper from the motor housing to somewhere on the engine. Make sure the switch has a good ground. If you still don't see a change, then test the motor on the car using the procedure shown in the attached link.

Yes you can remove the cover while on the car, but there is a tab with a hole that the washer pump drive pin fits into. It is not easy to get this back into correct alignment and get the pump drive pin back in the hole/slot.

Here's another link to a Wilcox Corvette document that shows the wiring from the motor to the switch and was very helpful to me:

Thanks Don, links were helpful. Sounds like this will be a winter project.
