Re: Cooling problems with 72 350, 4 speed
Tony this modification will not cost much. From a full time vacuum port on the carburetor run a length of vacuum hose directly to your 1972's vacuum advance. The full time vacuum advance port is the only one to use from the carburetor to make this work.
I have only used full time vacuum advance on my 1970 Corvette since it was brand new.
What made me change was when my 70 was less than two weeks old I left it running with the air conditioning on while I was out of the car for a few minutes. I heard the engine pick up RPM's. The reason it did was the engine temp increased to allow a temp unit in the passenger side head
to send a signal to the TCS unit to go full time vacuum to the distributor vacuum unit which increased engine RPM's. With full time vacuum I have never had any problems in traffic with my 1970 even in Dallas, TX hot July temperatures enjoying the factory air conditioning.
