    Heater Box cables

I am looking for either NOS, new repop, or generic equivalent for the push on nuts for the two heater box cables for a 1967 w/o air cond. I checked with the usual vendors; paragon, LIC, DReb, even Chi vette. None carry these small inexpensive push on nuts.

These are shown in the AIM on pages:
    UPC 1 ASM
    Sheet E6 and E7
    Item number 2
    part number 381700

Somewhere someone still sells something like these....

    Don,
I live in CA and there is a True Value Hardware store that has different sizes in their pull out bins in the hardware fastner section.

Don, LIC 12-41 or 37-42 should be what you need. Just spray them semi-gloss black or some black phosphate.

Are they supposed to be black? My originals are a dark gray, almost like unrusted steel.

I just looked at what I believe to be originals and they looked black to me. Let's hope others chime in.

                Harry -

I remember working with them in production in the early 60's, and they were black.

                  Hi Don,
I picked some up at the GM dealer. The part number has changed from 381700 to 11501937. I had to buy a pack of 10, but they are inexpensive.
I haven't used them yet but they look like the originals.
                  Kind Regards,
                  Pete

                    Re: Heater Box cables

Have the heater box out, and finishing repairs and repaints the black metal parts.

The original small push-on retainers for the cables were black under the 48 years of dust.
Yes they were destroyed in their removal.
