Original 1100697 60 amp alternator valuation?

    Hello,
it took me 8 years to finally acquire a 1965 a/c-t/i-365 hp-p/w-telescopic-teak wheel-p/w coupe that the previous owner had stored in his shop for 40 years. The car is complete but partially apart. The build date of the car is may 17,1965. It does have the transistor alternator relay with the original #1100697 alternator. I was unfamiliar with this alternator until i was looking at this forum for information. It seems as if that alternator may have some value. Can anyone tell me what the value of these alternators are? I am curious as i have been unable to see one that was sold previously. Just curious, not selling it.
    Thank you for any help.

Okay, so it's not for sale and you want the world to know you have one - I'd guess $1.25.

First off, I can't tell you what it's worth. This is a rare alternator but there are really a small number of folks that need it.

This alternator was not used exclusively on Corvettes, though. It was also used on most other Chevrolet models for the 1965 model year, although only on a very small sub-set of those models (as it was for 1965 Corvettes, too).

Keep in mind that the only things of real value in the case of this alternator are the stamped part number and date. Otherwise, an identical alternator could be constructed from components that are "a dime-a-dozen".

Loren, It was not my intent to "let the world know you have one" it was merely an honest question. I do not ever recall seeing a such a mean response from anyone else on this forum as your comments would indicate. I come here seeking reliable information about a common interest we share in these cars and i read almost all of the post by other people to gain knowledge. I do not make many post but if you read the previous 2 that i made prior to this last question both of those post were to try to help other owners re-unite with items that i located. one was an original 66 427/425 engine block and the other was the original paperwork for a 1965 convertible. i do not have any financial interest in either of these items but i was merely trying to be of help to another member. i do not feel the need to be apologetic for asking for information from anyone.
the second reply from Joe Lucia was more in line with what i was asking. (THANK YOU JOE)

          Chuck,
I would suggest any alternator that would be correct for the mid years is more appealing to persons seeking it if it were completely restored and ready to put on ones car. I say this because most do not restore the alternator their self only to "send it out" for restoration. I prefer to restore it myself but that practice is becoming less prevalent by persons seeking said alternator. This does not answer your question but gives you a feel for the limited market for "as is alternator".
