    Vendor discounts?

Does any of the C2 restoration/repair parts vendors offer any discounts?

Corvette Central and Parogon have programs that offer discounts. CC calls theirs "Start to Finish".

Volunteer Vette will extend 15% once you place an order of $1500. Plus shipping is free on any order over $100

I used them for parts on my 67 and also the 69 I restored last year.

Very pleased - very good customer service and easy to work with.

Paragon offers several types of discounts. One is (or was) for first time buyers, another offered a discount if you placed a single order for $500 or more, they always offer a discount for NCRS members (you have to ask) but.... a lot of their items are priced at "discount rates" (so they say) and are lower than the standard price with the 10% NCRS member discount. Paragon has another discount program that might appeal to a restorer - you have to buy a lot to get a huge discount. I've notices that just like a lot of retail businesses, parts vendors are constantly changing their sales terms. You just have to watch and ask. But it's like Las Vegas - the house always wins.

Watch out for excessive charges for shipping that are way more than what the vendor pays for UPS, Fed Ex, or postal service. Hint, shipping charges are in many cases link to dollar amount of order rather than actual shipping costs.

            Ed,
I tried placing an order online and could not get a discount from Paragon. Is it only through a phone order?

              Ed,
After reading this thread this morning I emailed Blaine Lessard at Paragon, and asked if Paragon gave a 10% discount to NCRS members. He responded "yes they did as long as the membership is valid." I then emailed him my NCRS # and he said that my file was updated for future use and I would get the discount on all eligible items???? I wish I had known about this last year while spending so much on restoration parts from them. Hope this helps.

                  Jimmy,
I'm sorry that you did not hear about the NCRS discount sooner but I'm glad to hear that you are getting it now. The last few times I ordered items from Paragon and asked for the NCRS discount after taking a few moments to crunch some numbers the sales rep told me that the advertised sale price was lower than the NCRS discount and I could only get 1 discount. I guess it depends on when you order stuff. All that said they are a good company and will take a bad part back no questions asked.

I've had the Paragon NCRS discount for several years. When I log in it on their site shows me as an NCRS member, and the discount applies to the end order. So far (!) I've not gotten the discount on all my items, but I know that I have not ordered anything listed in the catalog as "no discount". You don't have to call, as when it's in your profile that you're an NCRS member it's there to stay.

I know that M&H Electrical Fabicators gives a 10% discount on their harness when the main harness is included in the order.

Don, In my experience, as validated by others above, almost all Corvette vendors offer a discount to NCRS members. I can add Sermersheim, Crane, and Wilcox to the +/- 10% list. As other posters have mentioned, the vendors sometimes run specials with either free shipping or a stated percentage off. You may be able to call them and find out when these will be offered. For example, I recently timed my order of a N11 undercar exhaust from Corvette Central until they offered $30 off the system and no shipping. Finally, the major vendors (LIC for one) offer discounts for bulk orders ($750 and up IIRC). So, I would operate on the basis of every vendor offers a discount of some kind and would not be hesitant to call before I ordered to confirm.

I have posted this before but ALL the rubber boots I got from LIC, shift, clutch fork, firewall clutch boot, and emergency brake boots, all cracked within a few Months on my 67 coupe. It has never been started or out of the shop. After a year they all crumple to the touch. They would not take the 2nd cracked shift boot back that I bought that was still in the package and only a few Months old. ALL my orders were over $1,000.00 then to get their discount, now it's $750.00. Spent thousands of $$ and they only returned my money on a mutilated A/C vent that was modified by someone to fit the pass side A/C vent.
My car seems to be the only one that this has happened to. Maybe the rubber needs to be exposed to excessive heat and elements to keep from falling apart! Actually, my original boots (1967) are in better shape than any of the new ones.
