'65 C60 L76 -- what compressor belt ?

Previous compressor with small(er) pulley had a belt 15/32" thick by 57.00 long. Just installed the correct 6_3/8" dia. pulley and no way this belt will fit. AIM and P&A30 catalogs do not show anything longer for this combo, but I do see there's a 60" belt for a 409 with options. I figure I might need something in this length range.

Anybody have any experience in this ?

Went thru four parts Books (Oct 64 thru 1970) and couldn't find a listing for the A/C belt with Special High Performance. The ones listed for High Perf seem to run between 57" and 57 1/2". My 1965 AIM is out on loan - time to reclaim it.

Do you want an original GM belt or a reproduction?? Quanta sells the reproduction belts with an A and a B suffix.............one works for the smaller diameter pulley and the other for the larger pulley. I found this out the hard way.

Let me know if you need the numbers. They are the old style cloth wrapped belts with various GM numbers imprinted into the belt.........but can't say/remember if they agree with the AIM.

I had a heck of a time trying to get a belt for my 63 A/C car. I finally found one that fits, correct size and marking at Corvette Central. The manufacturer is Z06. Take a look.

OK, here's what I've ended up with. NAPA (Gates belts made for) I settled on their part # 7575, which is a 13/32" (not 15/32) x 58_1/8" outer circumference. Seems to place the compressor far enough away from the valve cover for lash checking, yet provides enough clearance for the coolant and A/C hoses that are held by brackets to the inner fender. Tried their version 1/2" longer (#7580), and at first I thought that would do, but the hoses were too close to the big compressor pulley.

It's not pretty (with their printing on the belt, and the toothed inner design) but it will do until the proper repro can be ordered (by the next owner, not me) .
