Re: A/C Compressor Sticker
I've seen threads about using a typewriter to fill in the date code for A6 Compressor labels.
But your '85 has an R4. Is its label date coded? If not, it may be relatively easy to ask Dr. Google about acquiring an R4 label.Mark Edmondson

Tried GOOGLE first thing but came up empty. Yes my label has a code, but I'll settle for a lookalike with a generic code.- Top

Re: A/C Compressor Sticker
Guys,
I have found a way to get the ink on and keep it on when you type the code. It takes a while and actually cannot be detected by feel and/or sight.
1- I tape the code box and lightly scuff the foil with scotch brite. it may not be needed but thats what I do.
2- remove the tape and re-apply to make sure there's not any particals sticking to the tape.
3- I mask the whole sticker with paper and spray a thin coat of clear on it.
4- remove the tape or if your good enough just type with the tape on till the ink is in the indentations.
5- spray another thin coat of clear on it and let it dry.
I have done a few lately and started off with a semi gloss clear but you can see the gloss level change, but the ink seemed to stick better to it without re-coating it.
Now I bought the Rustolium clear that you spray on garden tools that has a high gloss over the foil, it takes a while to dry but is hard as a rock when dry. The gloss level matches the foil and if you use thin striping tape you cant detect or feel the edges and the ink wont wipe out of the type.
