            Re: Lone Star Regional Photos

I just had to relate a quick story from last weekend’s Frisco, TX Regional.

We had a silent auction with donated items to raise funds for Victim Relief Ministries. There was a dealer showroom poster of a blue 1964 fuelie coupe displayed on the auction table. It looked like a nice vintage piece with hardly any wear, so I bid on it and won it without really knowing much about the item.

After our awards banquet, a gentleman and his wife introduced themselves to me as they understood I had acquired the showroom poster. Don Hein was a mechanic at his fathers dealership in late 1964 when the posters were coming down from display. Don personally removed this poster and would carefully keep it with him for the next 51 years until donating it to our auction this fall. Hein Chevrolet was in Kimball, NB and this poster was truly displayed in their showroom.

It’s just a good story with good people. Thank you, Don.

Don and his wife Ginger are old Corvette racers from Denver. He knew Zora and Smokey Yunick from back in the day. They were regular racers in the SCCA Rocky Mountain Region, and also vintage race events. 1990 NCRS Stemfboat vintage race at Convention comes to mind. Great people sharing the hobby. That's what keeps me involved.

                  Vinnie,
Many nice photos of the cars and the great people having fun preserving them.
I only recently joined the NCRS. The Lone Star Regional was the first meeting I have attended. My friend Joe DeMesy and I attended it together and he really enjoyed seeing many of his old friends. I enjoyed meeting Tim Gilmore, Terry Key and many other enthusiast's. The cars were all awesome! I hope to own a 66 or 67 Roadster soon. I keep looking!
My next stop will be the 2015 Muscle Car Show and Corvette Nationals Saturday Nov. 21st in Chicago.
                  All the best!

I have to introduce you to California Bob Wingate. He was the number one selling Corvette salesman in the in the USA from 1956 through 72. A great guy with a lot of knowledge . He was inducted in the Bloomington Gold Great Hall about five years ago. You will have a great time in Chicago. Many of my good friends including Joe DeMesy will be there. Regards Jim Gessner

                      Hey Jim,
Nice meeting you. The show should be a real eye-opener for me. Hanging around Joe DeMesy for 30 years or so it was fun to see Joe's car hobby progress. I was able to see many of his cars in person and most all of them in his computer photo album. Some really cool and rare wheels indeed. His close friend Chris Piscitello also had some great ones through the years.
All my adult life every once-in-awhile someone would ask me "are you the Bob Wingate that sells old Corvette's?"
I have read the real Corvette Bob Wingate's story and it is quite amazing.
Maybe I could locate and buy a car someday he sold originally in the 1960's with sales documents. That would be awesome!
I hope to see you at the upcoming show this weekend.
                      Best Regards
                      Bob Wingate
