Redoing my 3810, and I am noticing a difference in the gaskets, Throttle Body to Carb Base.
The first picture is a supposedly correct gasket (from Chicago Corvette) for a 3810 with a 1-9/16" bore, which I have had on it but unused:
Holleygasketbase 1 9-16 (Medium).jpg
Notice all the extra holes in the gasket, especially along the throttle body secondary tracks, and the squared off sides.
With all these extra holes and I'm concerned that this gasket is going to easily leak after some use.
Here's a picture of a gasket from a generic Holley 4160 kit:
Holleygasketbase 1 1-2 (Medium).jpg
Notice that it has less holes, and fits the contour of the body along the sides, per the judging guide. It has a lot more gasket meat to cover the tracks in the throttle body. Only rub is that the bore is only 1-1/2" and I may have to trim the gasket in the bore to keep the throttle from sticking.
Which gasket would you use? Tim, are you there.
Having fun,
