    Re: Quick Lift

KwikLift is still in business, just talked to Dan the owner. Their website is up and running. They will not be at any shows for the rest of the year.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what good does it do to just get this much lift? Too high to use crawler and too low to stand up under car. What do you do on car when on this kind of lift??

        William,
It is not too high to lie on a creeper and work. You don't have to put it up as high as Tom has his, but as you can see you can do brakes jobs while sitting on a short stool, much better than putting these old bones on the concrete floor. I just had the whole rear axle assembly out of my 62 and I was able to sit under the car and lift the differential out, hard to do lying on the ground! It's easy to change oil and lube the grease fittings. For those of us who drive our cars on long road trips it is nice to be able to crawl under on a creeper and make sure everything is still tight. I could go on but I think you get the idea that as I stated before if you don't have high ceilings for a two or four post life this does a nice job!

Also, there are still some of us on the planet that are in the "little guy" category who are not independently wealthy like the majority of NCRS members. We do not have huge houses with garages that have 10-12ft high ceilings and lots of room for expensive lifts. Thus, we get by on a very small budget and make the best of what we can afford. A Kwiklift is one of the things which helps to make doing our own maintenance and repairs a little easier rather than being able to spend whatever is required to pay someone to wash and wax our cars and put air in the tires.

Tom, if you're referring to me, I don't have a lift of any kind and don't "pay someone to wash my Corvettes." With photos of your cars, looks like you're doing OK .Regardless of your comments, I like your '56.

              Re: Quick Lift

The reason I bought my Kwiklift was I only have 8" ceilings so a lift is out. The Kwik lift offers a safer way to support a car then jack stands, although I have had my cars on JS for years at a time. I am 6'2" and fit nicely under it but liked to work outside of it on a work stool. I just wish I had the time to work on the 69!

I got one of these from Dan a few years ago. It is perfect for working under the car with little effort. I made great use of it when I was cleaning the undercoating off my '71. It reminds e of the old front end alignment machine we had at my dad's garage. It is very safe and, as others have said, I have an 8' ceiling so this works well. Used it to change oil yesterday.

I did not say ALL, I said MAJORITY of NCRS members. Lets face it, NCRS has evolved into a rich man's club. I still love and enjoy the cars, but I do not fit the mold of most NCRS folks and functions.

                    Tom

Well said, but it will probably ruffle some feathers, LOL, as you know I also fall into that "little guy" category, I really enjoy my car and put about 7000 miles a year on it here in northern Ohio.

                      Re: Quick Lift

I have had my Kwiklift for over 15 years and it has been a real asset. I have enough ceiling height for a 2 or 4 post lift in one of my garages however I prefer what I consider to be the safety factor of the kwiklift. The car is parked on it in the lay flat position all the time.
