1955 red seat covers

Tech manual states red seat panel design stitching on 55 red seat covers. Are the seat panel design stitches red on 55 red seats? Is the red stitching the same gauge thread as used in 53-54? Do the door panels and kick panels use red or white stitching? The material shown as I-1-3 on page 8 of TIMJG appears to have less graining. Al Knock supplies red seats with white stitching but will build-up any changes requested (excellent company). All help appreciated (car #63) thanks Lynn Libby

lynn: can't help as my 55 wasn't red gutted. too bad dave ferguson not still above ground. he would probably answer your questions. hang in there, some 53-55 expert may help ya. mike

white threads on all items, four threads on seat cover 1 1/16". early 55 cars with red seats have been found with 12/53 and 1/54 dated cushions. you need to purchase a c.d. of 55 car #1029 from troy pyle.

The seats are red with white thread - the seat covers and the kick panel are the same.
Judging will deduct for the thread thickness as Al's seat cover thread is not thick enough compared to originals.
Thickness - I mean width
I did speak to Al about it - not sure he changed the thread or not....
