    1971 454 valve covers

I just received a new set of valve covers from Crane Corvette for my 1971 LS5 with power brakes. The judging guide states that "the driver's side cover is angled at the back to clear the power steering booster". The new cover is angled but also has an indentation at the lower corner - is this correct?
My original covers are long gone and I have not been able to find a clear picture of an original on the web.
    Thanks.

A pic would aid us with giving you an opinion.

            yes -

i looked at some pictures from my 72 and it had the same indent.
pretty sure 71 -72 are the same.

Is it true that all big block cars (with or without PB) had a left side valve cover with an indention for the booster? I'm thinking Tonawanda didn't know the options of the car when building the motor, so this must be the case.

Yes, I would say you are correct, they were all "angled" back to clear the power steering booster as it states in the Judging Manual whether the car was equipped with power steering or not.
But, without having originals to compare, I was not concerned about the angle but the indentation on the lower corner of the angled end of my new reproduction covers. Bill cleared that up for me with his reply above and I'd say they all had the same indent.
                  Thanks, Phil

                      Bill,
Another picture would be helpful. Also, if the car is back together, would you mind taking a couple detail pictures of the firewall?
                      Looks like a beautiful restoration.
                      I really appreciate your help.
