    1953-1962 Gas Cap

I need to purchase rubber gaskets for 1953-1962 gas caps. Can anyone provide a source?

    Thanks,
    Ed

            Were they originally rubber?

No they were cork. I want something functional. Originality is not a concern.

Well you could buy a Napa 703-1205 or a Stant 10810 or a Standard CST 6810 cap and just take the rubber gasket off them. Or I guess you could get creative and make your own, probably cheaper and faster to buy one of the aforementioned caps. Numbers are courtesy John Hickley. Hope this helps.

Top Flight Reproductions makes the C-1 gas caps for most C-1's. I've bought one several years ago and it did pass judging. There around $125 and appear to be good quality cap. Also. originals are still out there. I found and original a few years ago at the Florida Regional swap meet.
