Good evening all.....have done due diligence researching the correct application for the Delco Remy 1115087 Delco coil. My older judging manual indicates some relationship to the '63 Corvette but find that appears not to be correct. Could someone post the the application for the '087' coil. Was it used on the Corvette, when?.....other GM vehicles? Thanks.

Re: 1115087 Delco Coil application
I was told earlier the 091 was used all through '63 so just seeking clarity Leif. Would that info come from the judging manual? I'm seeing in '64 where the L-76 may have used the 087, which have the L-84 using the same. Can someone collaborate this info?- Top

Re: 1115087 Delco Coil application
As stated the 087 coil was used on late '63 250/300 HP engines. The coil change was also accompanied by a change to the 1.8 ohm ballast. This configuration continued through '64 for those engines. SHP/FI engine continued to use the 091 coil and 0.3 ohm ballast through '64. Beginning in 1965 all single point distributor's use the ...202 coil and 1.8 ohm ballast.
The revision section of '63 AIM Sect. 6 Sheet C7.00 shows that the sheet was changed on 2-12-62. That doesn't tell us when the change was actually implemented in production, but it was probably fairly close.
Also, A TSB was written on the issue and I believe it's posted somewhere in the archives.
For decades the '63 JG was wrong on coil and ballast usage, but I think the latest revision has it right.
