    Re: 63 knock offs

The NCRS Spec Guide shows option quantities and P-48 is zero for 1963. I don't know if this included pilot line cars, but I suspect not since those were not considered "production" cars suitable for sale to the public.

You state "production records show..." You need to publish - like scan and post - the exact source of these data.

Take the info to the bank and you'll get a loan. I've seen the cover page listing distribution within GM and without digging it out and counting, there were less than 50 copies, replete with warnings about non-disclosure. John Amgwert's Spec Guide was/is a fabulous groundbreaking gathering of information, but it was with access to public information, not the closed door variety. Remember that until John showed them, Chevrolet "thought" they built 23,562 cars, not 23,564.

        Duke
There is information that shows that Kelsey-Hayes actually never cast an aluminum wheel, and contracted the P48 wheel casting operation to one of the west coast hot-rod wheel manufacturers (like Superior, Appliance, etc.) that had far more experience in aluminum wheel casting than K-H.

          Re: 63 knock offs

Since the NCRS Spec Guide (unquestionably a great reference source) and other publications were printed years ago, I thought the production quantity thing was somewhat of a dead issue. Earlier this year I took a closer look at the 56-57 Production numbers (that I knew had some mistakes) and I was surprised at how many errors and omissions I found. I am not sure if my efforts submitted in January will ever be printed since it would probably out date the current NCRS Spec Guide etc.
If NCRS and "Naysayers" are still interested in numbers, willing to submit 63 Corvette RPO P48 production quantity data. It could be included with information sent in January.

Back to 63 KO's again gang. I have zero documentation and never like KO's anyhow every since I owned a new '66 with KO's. Hated those wheels as couldn't get the RF off after a flat.

Meanwhile you heard this before. I saw a brand new 63 silver car with KO's on the truck. Saw it at Grabiak Chev. in New Alexandria, PA.
The owners son was Sam Grabiak, Jr. Jr came into the show screaming for all of us to go out to the front (of show room) ASAP. So I ran also with my pal Timmy Grabiak. Jr said the option was not available to the general public. He said the car was being delivered to a big wheel in Pittsburgh. Know his name but not publishing it.
This is no documentation for those of you that have tried to use it to get your car judged with those wheels. You know who you are.

Could it have been Grady Davis? I know of a photo of his Z-06 with Dick Thompson at the wheel at Road American sporting two-bar KOs, but I would think that Chevrolet gave his those wheels in boxes to install on the race car.

Most of the C2 I see all have KOs. Does anyone know just how common they were from 64-67?

No rumors on this one. GM records show 1963 Corvette RPO P-48 15x6L Wheel Equipment (Quick Take Off) was delivered on 13 Units. Perhaps NCRS should rethink their position.

Frequently, getting NCRS to rethink something is like trying to pull teeth from a chicken.

Yes, seriously! I just exterior in several classes from Chapter to National. The emphasis from all the team leaders is to be fair and accurate.

                              What's the complaint?

I'll have to take it off line with you, or you can look me up in Frisco if you are there. Way too sensitive and off-topic for the TDB.
