C2 Convertible Boot Latch, Help Needed

Folks: I am out in the garage now detailing my 1966. I was greasing the 2 boot latches and they bend at a 90 degree. The boot is now up and they are locked at a 90 degree. I can't get them to retract and align down so I can close the rear boot. Any timely guidance greatly appreciated. Many thanks! Signed, feeling stupid in Houston

Are you saying that you pull the lever and the latches do not retract to the vertical position? If so, I'm guessing either the cable is stuck in place. Or the cable has come loose from the latch. Can you push in where the cable attached to the latch with your finger while you pull the lever?
