Here are before and after photos of my 67 original jack....... Not much to a restoration.... take it apart, bead blast, paint, and reassemble.

the washers were put on after painting - they should be natural

Excellent point of detail. One would assume the jack lead screw was finished separate from the rest of the jack, then assembled.

Daniel and Gene, if you look closely at the photos I provided, you'll see that the nylon washer is indeed natural and the lead screw is only partially painted, just like it was before I took it apart.

Steve, I think Dan is referring to the steel washers being natural as well as the nylon washer being unpainted.

All, Thanks for pointing out the details of the metal washers, my mistake. I missed that detail when I restored my jack, it was some time ago and the newest manual was not out (which, by the way, is a great manual with many photos). My photo "before restoration" does show the metal washers to be "not painted". I'll need to correct that detail.

                    Re: 67 Tire Jack

Additional research and reports from original owners have prompted us to further revise 1967 jack descriptions. The following revisions have been made in the as yet unreleased 6th edition of the 1967 CTIM&JG:

1.) Jack dating has been observed on some original jacks from beginning of production

2.) approximately 30% of jack wrench heads do not display the cast O

3.) concentric circles on rivets are found on most but not all jack and wrench assemblies
