    Frame stamp

Upon prepping my frame for paint I found a stamped -10 inside of a circle. It's on the top side of the differential cross member. I can't figure out how to attach pictures on the mobile site.
Also, is it recommended that I clean the frame with a degreaser or mineral spirits before painting?
    Thanks, Justin

    Re: Frame stamp

    Hi Justin,
I have found the same marking on the frame of my December built 1969. I do not know what it means, but I do not think it is anything special. Maybe an inspection stamp ?

A VERY, VERY common stamping seen on Corvette frames.

Dana Corp. was the supplier of the Corvette differential crossmember, and they stamped "-10" on every one of them.

Justin, I assume the frame has been media blasted? If so, use compressed air to clean it well and whiping with something like Prep-sol to remove any grease or fingerprints would be a good idea.
