63 Air conditioning

    63 Air conditioning

    Does anyone have a pic showing the belt and pulley arrangement used on the 63, when it had both air-conditioning and power steering? It might have been the same as later C2 cars (?), so those would probably be OK too.

    Mike, have you checked the AIM for a pic. if not send Harry Sadlock a PM he has a 63 A/C car.

      Ed, unfortunately the 63 AIM doesn't show the belt system for the combination of AC and PS. I think I've ascertained that when the two options were ordered together, the AC and alternator belts remained as they are normally, but a third pulley was added to the crank for a belt that handled the PS only.

        That's how it was. A pulley of GM #3751232 was "sandwiched" onto the existing 2 groove crank pulley. A power steering pump pulley of GM #3770509 was used. A belt ran between these two with the adjustment at the p/s pump brackets.

            If the 1967 configuration for either 300 HP or L-79 with C-60 and N-40 was the same as 1963 250/300 HP with C-60 and N-40.

              Joe, this is the 67 pic. I think, from what I gleaned from the 63 AIM, that this is what the 63 looked like too. Looks like a triple groove on the crank, with the PS pump on the outermost, the AC compressor in the middle, and the alternator in the inside..

                It's not a triple groove crank pulley. It's a double groove with a single groove "sandwiched" on the front. No Corvette small block ever used a triple groove crank pulley.
