1957 Windshield Washer

Looking for help with the Windshield Washer system on a late build 1957 Corvette. As I understand it, the wipers and washer squirting should start when the pump pedal is depressed. This part of my system works! But, the wipers are suppose to park after the washer pump pedal is released and this does not happen unless I turn them off with the knob on the dash. Can anyone offer a solution for this problem? The Wiper Motor was rebuilt and works great on both speeds and parking using the dash knob.

Check the foot pump cable and wiper control cable attaches to the wiper motor. Sometimes all you need to do adjust the wiper control cable back a little bit.

Richard & Jay,

I was able to make it work by removing the lower clip that fastens the dash cable to the white plastic switch slide. A fellow member sent me pictures of his switch setup and his car used only one clip in the upper of the two holes in the plastic slide. I still am not sure how this made a difference but it did.

Ha! Those washer systems are more art than science - if you got it to work then thank the Corvette gods and leave it alone !
