Duke , I'll give that a read. It sounds like you are saying I already have the best combo with what I have got.

Would running with the 64 AFB (500 CFM's) factor in to this ? I noticed some popping (not detonating) out of the exhaust after dialing in the curve (but that was with the old can and no Vac limit plate).

The AFB should work fine. If the ...196 distributor (which is actually '67 350 HP) had the original 8" 236 16 VAC it's too aggressive for a 300 HP cam. A 15" B22 is best for a 300 HP cam with manual transmisssion and does not need to be limited to less than the 16 deg. maximum.

Perfect! The B22 is arriving today and I should be able to get it out for a test run soon. Thanks again for filling in the blanks on this odd combo, much appreciated. Dan
