HI:
I have a heat shield on my '67 small block (non-AC) right side mounted battery. It is clearly an aftermarket piece. It is not painted but is a gold chromate covering. It also has a single hole near the bottom toward the rear. I have two questions:
1) Should the heat shield be painted? If yes then I assume clearly ----semi-flat black ---
2) I also assume there should be a "J" type retainer clip to hold the positive battery cable attached via the hole in the shield. The '67 AIM shows the clip (UPC 12 - A6 page G221) but appears to call out two mounting points vs. a single hole as the reproduction has. No mention of rivets or screws --- just the drawing. Which of the two is correct? Single hole, double hole --- no clip at all???
I am looking for a definitive call on this (for judging purposes). If you have an original shield I would really like to know what your configuration is on this piece. Photos attached:
A typical reproduction piece (sold by several vendors) --

------ and a shot of a similar part in the car ---- you can see the open hole near the center of the photo ---

Any definitive help will be much appreciated!!
