Rotors look real good except for a narrow ring of rust (maybe 1/4") around outer perimeter. I can clean this up with a 80 grit sanding disk I expect.

      Thanks,

Your best bet is to obtain a 3M Disc Brake Rotor Reconditioning Kit. The abrasive discs in this kit will break the glaze on the rotors and provide a good non-directional finish. They will also remove that "ring of rust" you mentioned. However, it's not absolutely necessary to remove this rust for functional reasons since this ring is outside the contact area of the pads.

        Neil,
Looking at the CCSB website it appears there is a kit for the "body on" installation vs. "body off". Did you use the "body on" kit?
Also, how are the rivets installed in the firewall for the strap that the top bolts of the booster bracket fasten into? (special tool?) I have no experience with rivets and there is not much space where this bracket is located for tools.
        Thanks much for the help.

Hi there You can Look on ebay I recently saw the 66 Full Kit I had used MC + Lines + Booster + Rivets etc...I think $1099?????+ $50 Date Stamp Booster ONLY dont stamp MC for $50 waste of $$ Never Dated in 66 anyhow ) 66 uses a BODY ON KIT// (65 needs a BODY OFF KIT I assume....)OK Theres a Template for The Upper Bracket Plate that fits ONCE the Drivers wiper cowl is removed and 2 Holes are drilled The Power Booster Mounts With Bolts on Top inside Engine Comp and Weld Nuts already on the Riveted Upper Support Bracket inside the Cowl.......The LOWER Booster Bolts go into Where The original Manual Studs are located . These need to be Knocked back into the other side of the Firewall. Interestingly The Brake support plate leaves Two of the 4 Original Studs that came from the inside.. The Original Manual MC used NUTS on the Engine side where as Power Booster is REVERSE All studs Lower and Bolts upper secure to Weld Nuts top and Bolts inside the firewall with Nuts....These prefitted lower PB studs fit right thru the Holes left by taping out the Manual Mounting Studs...Once Booster is secure MC fits right to it... REAR line needs to be Routed slowly with lube till it gets to the Old Rear Brass Junction Block No need to change that if in good shape You can leave the 2 existing Rear Brake lines attached if you have enough room to attatch NEW Rear Metal 1/4/ Line.Front line from MC goes to a New Front Brass Block thats supplied and you need to remove Front Dual Lines to Brakes and add NEW BB with Old Front Lines and now just One New Front From MC.. (Old Block had 4 Holes ) et someone to help you I couldnt do it alone Too hard for one person at least for me...Best Wishes

I'm doing the same install on my 66 roadster this weekend. One piece rear brake line was a pain but it's in. Now working on the master cyl. The two studs for the manual brake master were spot welded in and took some effort to remove. I am now concerned that the dip stick will not work with the dual master and brake booster. Is there a different dipstick or is it relocated? I have an L79 engine. Have you got this far? BTW I am using Hawk HPS pads. Had good luck with them before on a GTO.

The same dipstick and tube were used for 1966 L-79 with or without C-60.

                Neil,
Did you rivet in the upper support bracket? How did you accomplish the riveting? Special tools? Thanks.

                  Patrick,
I have not started this project. I wanted a little more information on the scope of the task before tearing into the car. One issue I have is how to rivet the upper booster mount bracket in place? Might be simple, but I'm not sure how I would accomplish this.
How did your installation work out? Were the studs spot welded to the brake assembly inside the car?
Any "lessoned learned" that you can share?
                  Thanks for your consideration.
                  Rich.

Cssb Has a Template for the bracket that comes with the Kit ( which I seem to Recall was in a Small Package from LIC) but I dont think they sell a Rivet Tool Try LIC they sell 3 diff ones that may work for you The template show how big and where to drill the needed holes ....

Yes the studs were spot welded to the bracket inside the car. Tough to get loose ,but I put a long nut on the stud in the engine compartment and used a pneumatic hammer and some wiggling to get them out. I am going to tackle the booster and the rivets this weekend. I don't seem to have a template so I am going to use the booster to mark the firewall.

If you have time let me know how you installed the rivets. Are you making a tool to fit the rivet head? Thanks much.

I am going to the club picnic tomorrow and am going to see if one of our members has a tool. I heard we did.

Any luck with the rivet tool brand?

                            Thanks.

still looking. Suggestion was to use a standard rivet tool with a washer on one side
