I was shown that the car may be alive. I now am interested in the stamping and originality of the motor. I have considered contacting the owner to see how interested he is in it, if at all. The cost of getting this motor verified may be more than I can afford to spend at this point. I have been told that Mr. Al Grenning is very good, and can be expensive. Are there other ways to go about this? Here are the photos of the motor that has been restamped. I am interested to find out if it was a factory restamp? I am not trying to pass of a fake, or discredit any one. I do think this is a L 71/ -L/89 motor, and would like to find out if the stamping/ Vin are infact correct or if they have been messed with.Thanks.
You may already have this info..but here it is anyway

I have seen more 68 VIN grindouts that just about all other years combined. Based on what I can see, I would be OK with this engine pad.

Of course I am curious as to what engine is in the car now.

I had not seen the info provided. I see the car was in Arizona since at least 1995. Thanks.

I agree with Daniel, the VIN looks like it was hit the first time light and they came back and hit it harder the second time farther to the right. It may also be a heavy bounce. I have a '67 390 horse with a similar VIN stamp. Mine is just ugly, but judged as real. .
