Truly one of the greats. And definitely one of the best story tellers I was ever privileged to hear.

Here is a picture of Dick driving his last-ever race at Sears Point in 2013:

It is with great sadness to hear of another racing great passing. These men are the hero's of my era! They carried the flag of the United States and were instrumental for the success of the Corvette. RIP gentlemen!

Met Dick at a book signing for his book Corvette Thunder at Autobooks in Burbank back in 2004. As he wrote in my book when he signed it, "Stand On It!!"

Dick was a great guy and a great car guy that Kay and I first met more than twenty years ago during his 'Dream and Drive' program for new Corvettes that traveled around the country. We drove cars for him on several of these occasions and he brought one of the Chevrolet engineers over to the house for dinner one evening. Dick shared many memories of being a race car driver in Europe and how it compared to being a race car driver in the US. Very colorful and entertaining times spent with Dick - we will miss him.

my wife and i attended a roast for Penske in the early 90's(think it took place in palm springs ca and think it was 92 or 93). anyway, lea and i were in a long line to get dinner and bob bondurant and dick gulstrand got in line immediately behind lea and i. i overheard dick ask bob if he recalled the nite in the 60's when he, bob and roger penske were staying at the same motel after a day of competition. dick recalled that penske's daily driver, a 58 pontiac convert(if memory serves me), was parked adjacent to the motel swimming pool. it seems they released the parking brake, took the indian out of park, and shoved the convert into the pool.he was a pisser who will be sorely missed. RIP. mike

                    Great Guy indeed.
Where is the roller skate on the roll bar?
It was indeed a privilege to know him and spend time
with him here in So Cal.
                    Will miss him.

I saw Dick Guldstrand, in I believe 1995 at Steamboat Springs show up with his old driving suit probably mid-seventies vintage, get in I believe it was a 64 small block Corvette Convertible a racer asked him to sort out and run second in his class. That simply means he took a potentially unsorted car he had never driven and ran second to the experts at 67 years of age. That my friends gave me a new found respect for the man. The Corvette community has lost another great one. God speed my friend.

Enjoyed watching Dick race at the 24 hour at Daytona in 1966, he had a 'mystery' motor in his 66 Coupe, and was in 'Prototype' class, which he won. I found my old racing schedule from that race and gave it to him 3 years ago, he hadn't kept one himself. Still have my pit pass from that race, cost $5 to be parked in the infield zone. RIP Dick!

                            Dick Guldstrand passed away

Dick Guldstrand, NCRS member 12527, passed away September 2nd at his home in North Hollywood. Dick was a National Corvette Museum Hall of Fame member and well known Corvette racer in the `60s and `70s. More recently, he designed and built high performance Corvettes. Dick was a fabulous speaker who could regale his audience with amusing stories from his racing past for hours. He will be sorely missed. Please keep his wife Willie and his son Victor in your thoughts and prayers. Information regarding services will be added here when it is available.

I'm shocked to hear that Dick passed away, he was a great race car driver in southern Calif. and he will be missed. I first meet Dick in 1964 when he had is corvette race car at Bahr Chevrolet in Manhattan Beach who sponsored him at the time. My dad and I use to watch him race all over southern Calif, Willow Springs, Riverside, etc. I will never forget the roller skate taped on his rowbar upside down. RIP Dick and may god bless you....
