I am looking for a reliable source for a new temperature sender and thermostat for my 63-340HP car. Prefer units that are tested if they are available.

Many just buy 3-4 of the Wells TU-5 senders and use the one that is most accurate....its always a crap shoot. Putting a resistor in line to get the temp right at one temperature is done but the change isn't linear and errors will creep on either side of the selected temperature.

Thank for the information. Do you happen to know what the nominal resistance of the sender unit is over the normal car temperature range?

Richard, I buy Stant 180 degree thermostats from NAPA. The brownish gasket comes from Car Quest. If A car owner isn't having his car judged then I use the GM gasket. The black one that is the worlds best gasket but no good for our judging. John
