Yes, I did. I complained loudly and beat them into submission.

$86.79 has already been credited to my PayPal account.

Apparently, they had to get "approval" of their 60 day "price match" guarantee before processing my refund.

    Thanks again for the heads-up!

      UPDATE

Replaced compressor, examined and cleaned restrictor orifice/screen which had an insignificant amount of dirt present, added 3 ounces of mineral compressor oil for R12 systems, evacuated and held vacuum, charged with 39 ounces of R12 (system takes 44 ounces to fill, but didn't want to open another 14 ounce can). Did not disturb the original receiver/dryer ("accumulator"). Cleaned up the mess of dirt and grime left behind by the old compressor, and installed a new serpentine belt which I had bought some years ago but never used.

Everything works well, lines ice cold, blows ice cold. No icing and all seems normal. Now I hope that it stays that way for a few years and that I don't notice fresh oil around the clutch of the new compressor.

Joe, Glad it worked out. Now I know who to call when I take my 72 AC apart.

          Thanks Ed.
If you're serious then you can count on me although I know that you have more than enough talent to handle the job.

I did manage to break the ceramic seal extractor, or maybe it came with a crack. Different story. Anyway, as I say, it was simple. But it does seem that I am still slinging a little oil so I may have to bite down and replace the compressor.
Robert did you take your 1986's compressor off the car to install the new seal and o-ring?

If it is still leaking, then you will have to replace the shaft as well as the seal and the seal seat. Joe Lucia has posted a link to a brand new shaft for sale. Also, Domenic Tallarita appears to be the expert on compressor rebuilds. I hope that your repair was successful and that a complete disassembly won't be necessary.

I have "disguised" my new compressor to look very close to the original one. Now, if I can only find someone to reproduce the original label for me...............

Not necessary. I did have to temporarily unbolt and move the receiver/dryer for clearance. Did not have to disconnect any lines.

                  Joe,
Thanks for the compliment, but I only do the 63 to 75 A-6 compressors. Makes life easy, less mental work, space, and tooling. I'm gettin a bit lazy.
