    65 L-76 cars

When you ordered a 65 L-76 was TI ignition mandatory? What tell tale signs are there when trying to confirm a car came with the L-76 option not including the obvious indicators such as engine stamp, oil pressure gauge, and tach.

    Thanks

    Lawrence

Lawrence --- K66 was a non-mandatory option ordered with L76. A total of 752 L76 cars had T.I. Noland's book shows further breakdown for those with C60, U69, and various combinations of those; all 3, 2 of the 3, or none. A total of 5011 1965 L76 Corvettes were produced, so relatively rare with that motor.

Look at your rad support. There will be 3 holes drilled to the left (or right) of the radiator for amplifier mounting; left if C60, right if no air.

Your ECL on the trim tag may ID it as a TI car, the coil, distributor, and alternator were different, there may be 3 holes in the rt side of the radiator support that held the amp.

          Stewart -

The K-66 wasn't coded in the ECL on the trim tag - only in the suffix on the engine stamp pad ("HH" for points, "HK for points and A/C, "HL" for K-66 without A/C, "HM" for K-66 with A/C. All L-76's used the long-sump "6-quart" oil pan.

John how can I look at the oil pan and identify the 6 quart long sump pan?

              Larry -

See photos below - one is the short-sump "5-quart" (system) standard pan, and the other is the long-sump "6-quart" (system) L-76 pan.
