    Re: 1967 Transmission Mount Shim?

    John,
Didn't know that about 2" vs 2 1/2 ". my problem was opposite, my 2 1/2 hit the top with the 1.850 hight mount. Thanks fo the info.

    Rich,
Thanks for the thread, I had problems with ALL the after market mounts, front & back. Glad that I'm done with mine. I am thankfull that there are parts available,
    but some just don't fit.

    Dom

      Re: 1967 Transmission Mount Shim?

Adding some photos to a old post for reference. I picked this up at the Daytona swap meet yesterday as it seemed like a nice NOS part to keep. Appears NOS/unmounted with stamped on the backside metal "MADE IN USA"(4th/5th photos). After some research, I think it's for 1968-1977 Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission in Corvette and maybe other non-Corvette models. It has slotted holes versus round holes to attach it to the transmission.

      Rough dimensions are 5 1/8" L, 2 1/4" W, 1 13/16" H.

I don't know what the part# is. Maybe someone knows as I don't have any C3 AIMS to looks up.

There are several 4 digit numbers molded in the rubber. Some I can read are....

      2297 229? 2147 2383

        Rich------

I think this is aftermarket, probably Anchor but an early-manufactured piece (when they still made aftermarket mounts like OEM mounts). The numbers look like Anchor part numbers. However, none of them are Corvette part numbers. GM used a lot of different mounts that were very similar. The 1963-81 manual transmission and 76-79 THM Anchor mount was their number 2378. The 68-75 THM Anchor mount was their number 2278. If any other numbers were used for Corvettes, which is possible, I am unaware of them.

The GM mount for 68-81 manual transmissions and 76-79 THM-350 was GM #3913498. This mount also became SERVICE for 1963-67. A photo of an NOS example is shown below. GM mounts usually have several GM part numbers embossed on the rubber with one of the numbers "hi-lighted" with a colored crayon to identify which of the part numbers the specific mount is. GM #3913498 was discontinued about 20 years ago and replaced by GM #22188495. The latter was discontinued about 10 years ago. I have a few of the 22188495 but not where I can easily get at them. As I recall, though, they are identical to the 3913498, at least visually.

The 1968-77 Corvette mount for THM-400 applications was GM #3872247. This mount was discontinued and replaced by GM #22188496 about 20 years ago. I don't have examples of either of these mounts (yet). The 22188496 was also discontinued about 10 years ago. However, I think these mounts may have had slotted mounting holes.

          Joe,

Thanks for your detailed research and information. I also had a bit of suspicion after seeing the profile of the reinforcement rib and how it ends at the sides more sharply as opposed to the curved radius of the GM pieces. The slotted mount holes raised questions also, as I now see in your photo of the GM 3913498 has round holes.
