I need a recommendation on how to remove the Trunk Lid Emblem without damaging the surface of the lid of course.

Tape around it with masking tape . Heat it up with heat gun or hair dryer . Then take a plastic bondo squegee and work it till it comes off.

I've never tried it but I've heard using dental floss to remove adhesive applied emblems works well. Get it under the emblem and saw back and forth on it.

I tried the dental floss and did not seem to work properly for me.

            From the GM service manual:

Thanks John for the advice. I have a heat gun that operates in that degree range. I have found it is much better to ask advice than to try a method and damage the paint surface.

The dental floss or fishing line are both good methods, safe also. Use a sawing motion to cut thru the tape. I wrap ends of line around couple of wooden dowels to hold while "sawing". Then use Goo Off to remove the sticky film remaining.

John..... I used the 500 - 700 F heat gun and the removal came off fine when I pried the emblem with a kitchen spatula. I cleaned the old adhesive with "Goo Off" and then applied the new emblem using the "Blue Painter's Tape" as a guide for proper placement.
