    1966 Valve Cover question

Could somebody please help with advice on the correct valve cover decals for my 66 300hp serial number about 18000?

Is the 300hp decal seperate and below the main decal on the top or is the 300hp designation contained within the main top decal?

Two different arrangements were used for 1966 300 HP. Early used the 2 decal arrangement. Later 1966 went to a single decal. I feel pretty confident that by the time your car was built, the single decal was in use.

One caution, though: the engine stock at St. Louis was not rotated. In other words, it was pretty much "last in, first out". So, if an early engine had gotten stuck in the back of the engine stock and was pulled out at the time your car was built, it would be possible for you to have the early configuration. However, you could discern if this occurred simply be reference to the engine assembly code.

Thanks Joe, your advice is much appreciated I will proceed with the single decal.

The 1966 Judging Guide has pictures of the two decals on page 95. As Joe L. stated the one piece decal should be used. The two piece was the very early production style. Also need a decal on the rear of the passenger side valve cover with the engine suffix.

Thanks very much. I was at Carlise and did not bring my judging guide over from Australia with me, (need to room for parts to take back) and could not remember which was correct.
Anyway it all worked out and have purchased the correct covers. Thanks again for both yours and Joes help in the buying process.
